Release of the Queensland Road Safety Action Plan 2017-19

The Queensland Government has released the Queensland Road Safety Action Plan 2017-19 as a commitment to a vision of zero road deaths and serious injuries. MTA Queensland supports and encourages members to become familiar with the Action Plan.

The report states that in Queensland the aim is to reduce fatalities from 303 (average 2008-1010) to 200 or fewer by 2020 and reduce hospitalised casualties from 6,670 (average 2008-2010) to 4,669 of fewer by 2020.  

The Queensland Road Safety Action Plan 2017-19 is the second action plan launched by the State Government and it covers in full the key steps being taken which is outlined as 29 initiatives including:

  • Delivering safer roads for Queenslanders
  • Getting people in safer vehicles
  • Encouraging safer road use
  • Planning our future and strengthening our partnerships
