MTA Queensland supports the ATA’s ‘Towards Zero’ target
The Australia Trucking Association (ATA) released a submission on March 5th, 2018 stating that Australia should adopt a ‘Towards Zero’ philosophy and set a long-term target for zero deaths and serious injuries on our roads.
“A Towards Zero culture promotes that the only acceptable road safety target is zero,” said ATA Chair, Geoff Crouch.
“This strategy incorporates developments in safe roads, safe vehicles, safe speeds and safe people.
“Target setting is essential to this, which is why we have recommended governments move away from the traditional ten-year strategy and implement a series of more achievable five-year plans,” said Mr Crouch.
MTA Queensland is very supportive of the ATA’s submission with CEO, Dr Brett Dale saying, “The ATA’s desire to prioritise national road safety is commendable and certainly something we strongly support. Striving to stop road fatalities altogether is great target and we hope to see technology continue to make its way into the market that will assist in preventing road deaths and human error.”
